David had become one of my closest friends and not a day goes by without me being thankful for having known him. Despite the years between us we shared much over a curry most Sundays pre covid, he had given me so much guidance in the decade or so I'd known him.
It's a sunny winters lunchtime as I write this, just the sort of day I'd expect his knock on the window out of the blue, to head out for a walk around our local greenchain walk; that's if he wasn't working or supporting one of his many good causes.
David did so much for others and is truly the nicest person I'd ever known, and I don't say that lightly. I'd been fortunate enough to see some of his good work first hand and be invited to a few events or over to the rotary club, but, most of all, to me David was my friend, someone to watch football with or put the world to rights with. I'll miss having him on my team in the pub quizzes in Woolwich on Sundays or his advice to "just do it" every time I was procrastinating about something.
